Gas prices fall in two months

Gas prices have dropped seven cents in the past two weeks, continuing a downward slide that has lasted almost two months, a poll published Sunday.

The Lundberg Survey found the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular is $ 2.52 – for just over 12 cents since Aug. 7.

Gas prices have "followed by crude oil" a little more than dime-penny, "said survey editor Trilby Lundberg. Since 7 August crude oil has fallen nearly 12 cents a gallon, he said.

"The reason for both is the imbalance between supply," Lundberg said. The supply is plentiful, and that "demand is bleak."

"In the absence of the big surprise of the offer – that ever-present possibility – there is no place for gasoline prices to go but down," said Lundberg.

Demand has fallen due to recession and rising unemployment, Lundberg said. "This demand growth has been punctured.

The latest survey, which added thousands of prices in gas stations on Friday, found the highest average price in Anchorage, Alaska, to $ 3.29.

The lowest was in St. Louis, Missouri, to $ 2.16.
