Dan Gross, economics editor of Newsweek, is leaving the weekly general interest to accept a job with Yahoo Finance, reports Joe Pompeo The Business Insider.Pompeo says, “Gross, a former columnist for the New York Times, who also writes twice a week ‘piggy bank Slate column’, has been with Newsweek since 2007. He is the last game in what observers of the media are calling for an exodus of Newsweek. Money magazine bleeding 76-year-old is currently in the early stages of a major transition in the organization as the new owner takes over Sidney Harman.
“On the print side, the resignation of Gross follows the national economy correspondent Michael Hirsh, who is joining National Journal, editor and international Fareed Zakaria (first reported here in The Wire). Zakaria to write Time to rival Newsweek and expand its role in CNN.
“On the side of the fabric, raw follows Newsweek Digital editor Mark Miller (a veteran of 25 years who was also managing editor of the magazine), the executive editor of Newsweek Digital Gabe Snyder, and Newsweek’s general manager Digital Geoff Reiss. More than a dozen people have left in recent months.
